Ronél has extensive experience in evidence-based research, with a passion for all things education-related.

Dr Ronel Blom has taught research design and has helped hundreds of Masters and Doctoral students to address their research problems and successfully complete their dissertations and theses.

Ronél is an experienced researcher, policy developer and critic, teacher and speaker. She headed up the first Research unit at the South African Qualifications Authority, where she undertook large-scale policy research. She has leveraged this expertise at various statutory and non-statutory bodies and at public and private universities, e.g. the University of the Witwatersrand and The Da Vinci Institute for Technology Management, where she held the position of Dean: Research. She has published widely on a range of topics, the latest of which involved chapters in two separate international handbooks. She has supervised a number of Masters and Doctoral students, and have mentored other supervisors to improve their own skills.


Ronél completed a Teacher’s Diploma, followed by a Bachelor of Arts (Languages), before undertaking postgraduate study with a PG Diploma in Higher Education at the Royal Melbourne University of Technology. She then attained a Master in Education (cum laude), and completed her PhD in Education Policy, both at the University of Pretoria.
